Topic: Problem: No Input no Sound ...... No One Home!

Whilst I love my VoiceLive 2, I'm being driven crazy by a problem that has reappeared. Everything appears to O.K. with the unit except that no sound is registering in the Mixer window and hence no sound is being outputted.

The firmware is up to date, all the resets that I know about have been done, the mixer panel/setup panel etc have been checked .... and still no input. This has happened once before and I can't remember how it corrected itself (may be intermittent?)I did place a support request but the problem had corrected itself by the time they responded.

I don't know if it coincided with the fault appearing, but I connected the usb cable around this time (?)

Since there are connections available to connect it to a computer, why there isn't a program available to thoroughly test and reset this device I'll never know. It really is frustrating seeing all the lights on and there's no one home!!

Anybody had similar problems? Anybody have a solution?

Re: Problem: No Input no Sound ...... No One Home!

Hi Yowdoo,

Have you:
- checked and adjusted your input gain?
- enabled phantom power (in case you're using a condenser microphone)
- checked your microphone?
- checked your microphone cable?

If you have connected the input of your VL2 to a mixing desk have you:
- checked if the correct output on the desk is connected to the VL2?
- checked the output-level of the desk you're feeding the VL2 with?
- checked if the microphone-channel sends a signal to the selected output on the desk?
- checked the cable connecting the desk with the VL2?

Re: Problem: No Input no Sound ...... No One Home!

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the response.

Yup, I've tried all the usual things ..... it does seem a little coincidental (but unproven) that it may have coincided with plugging the USB cable in (?)

And:
In Gain=25db   Phan=Off          Aux Lev.=0db    O/P=Stereo
USB=Stereo     Dig.Out= Full Mix   O/P level Range=Line

It's not connected to a desk/mixer ....

Regards,

Dave.

Weird...
Have you reset the unit without the USB-canle and tried again?
Perhaps a reset to factory system settings will help? Hold down "Setup", "Wizard" and "Store" on power up to reset to factory settings (not factory presets!)

Re: Problem: No Input no Sound ...... No One Home!

Hi Mike,

Done all that, as well as undocumented Tone-Pitch-Edit (!)

Unless someone knows of a REAL hard-reset then I guess I'll just have to wait for support to fix the problem. I just hope they're a little faster than last time.

Regards,

Dave.

Interesting. what does that combination do?

Well, I hope you get your unit up and running soon. Please post the results here in case others rum into the same problem.

Re: Problem: No Input no Sound ...... No One Home!

Hi Yowdoo and Mike,

Are you using "Notes" presets? They require MIDI info to be present to make any sound at all.

Cheers,
Craig

Re: Problem: No Input no Sound ...... No One Home!

Hi Craig,

I'm using everything set to Factory defaults.

BTW "Tone-Pitch-Edit" checks all the lights, switches, mixer knobs, rotary encoder and display.

There are probably some others lurking there!

Regards,

Dave.

Re: Problem: No Input no Sound ...... No One Home!

Hi Dave

Can you export your setup via VoiceSupport and email it to me via the forums? I can load it onto my unit and see if I have no input too. That should help us narrow down whether it's a setup or hardware issue.

Thanks,
Craig

Re: Problem: No Input no Sound ...... No One Home!

Hi Craig,

I've sent it to Craig@TC-Helicon is that O.K.?

Regards,

Dave.

Hi Dave,

Got the email. I'll respond with an address you can send an attachment to.

Re: Problem: No Input no Sound ...... No One Home!

Many thanks for the replies ..... I've sent it for repair.

Re: Problem: No Input no Sound ...... No One Home!

Ok, I think that's a wise choice at this point. With your setup file and presets, my outputs fired up right away, which definitely sounds like a hardware issue. Sorry that we couldn't solve it via settings. Hopefully you'll get your replacement soon!
