Topic: G-XT Humming/Buzz when recording in Computer

First off, I want to say, I love this thing... Its nice to have something at practice, and show the guys "hey check this out this is where I want the harmonies" makes a world of difference.

So my dilemma is, I was really hoping to possibly use this in my recording set up at the house. Problem is Im getting a REAALLY bad buzzing/humming when going into my input in the computer. To the point where its not worth the hassle.

Just wanted to see if anyone has had success with this unit going in as a mic preamp? The grounding switch didnt make a difference either, but i was really wasnt expecting it to.

I bought this for live shows, and this would just be iceing on the cake if I can get this working. Thanks guys

You need to run the outs of the GXT through your mixer and then use one of the AUX sends to the line input of your computer.
BTW new computers have pretty good playback sound cards by REALLY BAD recording inputs. If you want to do serious recording you need to get a different audio interface.

Re: G-XT Humming/Buzz when recording in Computer

Thanks for reply that makes sense completely. We used a Behringer small little mixer prior to this and sure enough we used the Aux sends to the input. I have a decent interface, its a Creative 3.5 inch front audio panel. Not the best, but this was the first i had run into noise.

I guess Ill be using the mixer with the Harmony G. Thanks a lot for your help.

The Creative card is fine. Yes you'll have  to use the mixer. I have one of those little Xenex (sp)mixers as well
