Topic: problem with usb recording...

i´m running cubase and i´m trying to copy what is done in this video and i have, but it´s still not working:

http://support.tc-helicon.com/entries/2 … ls-via-usb

i do have audio from the headphone jack in the voicelive 2, and in my headphones i hear it the way i want to have it recorded to a new track, with effects and so on, from the vl2!
i just can´t record in cubase, what i´m hearing from the voicelive 2!
when i try to record, it just records an empty track without audio!

i have my soundcard set to internal!

any ideas as to what could i be missing?

Re: problem with usb recording...

Cubase can only record from one audio driver at a time unless you use a driver like ASIO4all that can hook two sources together to be available in cubase.

But using normal drivers you would have to select the VL2 USB audio driver in cubase to get the signal from the vl2 into cubase.

I prefer a pro/prosumer audio interface. Most computer sound cards have too much latency to be used.

Maybe you can check the setting in the VST CONNECTIONS, and see if the Outputs and Inputs are connected with the driver that you have( for instance, AISO4ALL), and then see if VoiceLive 2 1 for the Left Input/Output, VoiceLive 2 2 for the Right Input/Output

How can AISO4all hook two sources together?Does that mean that you can run them simultaneously?

Re: problem with usb recording...

I have a soundcard qirh more than one output so the way I do it is:

1) the voice channel is routed to one output, I connect the output to voice in of VL2
2) the guitar (or any other harmonising instrument) is routed to another output and I connect that to the guitar input of VL2
3) The VL2 output is connected to the input of the sound card
4) I create a new track and route it's input to the input wehere I connected the output of the VL2
5) I put the new track in record mode and start recording

That's what I understand it can do. That was my question to the people where I post audio questions, how do you use a usb mic?

Because you would have to select the mic as your audio system in cubase to get it to work then how would you monitor anything?

They said they use ASIO4all and it lets you use multiple drivers.

Don't know how it's done though...
