Topic: Transfer presets from Voicelive Touch to Voicelive Rack?

Is it possible to transfer user presets from my Voicelive Touch to my new Voicelive Rack? I tried using import/export but I get a sysex error. I think I already know the answer, so my next question is what is the best way to manually add them? The issue I'm having is I don't even know how the presets were created. One may have been based on Kanye Lockdown, then tweaked, copied again tweaked some more, etc. When I "edit" to see what's under the hood, it will often say "custom". Even if it's not a custom setting I'm not sure how the VLT's styles would translate over.

I'm gonna be a sad bear if I basically lost all my old custom presets. sad

Hi ShaunAkaBear,

Presets aren't currently transportable from one device to another. The architecture of the both the hardware and software is different enough to prevent a straight transfer.

Your best bet is to copy the actual effects settings, rather than try to remember what the preset was based on. For styles, you'd need to refer to the Touch manual, find the Style Name and then choose that style on your VLRack. Then, copy any additional settings that may be present in the preset.

If all else fails, going by ear can get you quite close also.

Sorry that there's no easier way.

Cheers,
Craig

Re: Transfer presets from Voicelive Touch to Voicelive Rack?

Bummer. I was hoping Voicelive's would be backward compatible. Transferring a Touch preset to a Rack seems more feasible then the other way around. I did notice it seems some scales are different in Harmony. The m1 on the Rack doesn't have a 5th.

So, I presume transferring presets from my VoiceLive 2 at home to a VoiceLive Rack at a second location would be also impossible, then?

Re: Transfer presets from Voicelive Touch to Voicelive Rack?

Heya mrdelurk,

We recently released all of the 500 preset mega-pack and the VoiceLive Play factory bank for VoiceLive 2, Touch and Rack. We had to build an internal converter to do so, which means we still don't have an end user conversion solution. It's something we'd really like to do when we can fit the project in though. Unfortunately I can't give any kind of ETA on that.

Cheers,
Craig
