Topic: main screen keeps blinking and device not reacting :(

Hi guys,

I switched on my newly bought VoiceLive Play today and all it does is constantly blinking (the main screen only) and not reacting when pressing any of the buttons.
I have also tried the full factory reset (pressing and holding “Back” and “Store” buttons while powering up) but no change sad
The device was working with no issues when I used it couple of days ago so I'm really surprised and worried now sad I am using the power supply that was included in the box.
I was planning to reherse today and have fun with my new toy but it seems dead for no reason all of a sudden sad Switching it off and leaving for a while doesn't help either.

Any advice and help would be most appreciated!

That definitely doesn't sound right. I'd get in touch with the vendor asap and swap the unit for a new one.

Sorry that happened to you! It's always frustrating to get a new piece of gear and have to deal with something like this right out of the gate.

Hey Craig,

thank you for your response.

I took the device back to the shop yesterday but instead of replacing it with a new one straight away (they didn't have it anyways), they told me the broken item needs to go to the official distributor for eventual fix first...
Can't say I'm happy with such procedure because I'd rather have a new unit, not the fixed faulty one that broke shortly after my purchase and that I now feel distaste for. Moreover, it may take up to 2 weeks for any decision, which also sucks.

Does it work this way worldwide with TC-Helicon products?

Heya,

Hmm, that's odd. Most stores have some sort of short-term faulty product replacement window. In Canada it's usually at least 14 days, though that's just where I have experience.

How long ago did you buy it?

The stores themselves set the refund/exchange policy, so TC-H only handles things when it goes beyond whatever the store will do.

Keep me posted on how things go.

I bought it a week earlier and that was the third time I switched the unit on.
Do you suspect what reason for the damage could have been? The last time it worked normally, it was connected to my Presonus Audiobox interface, using XLR cable.

Hi O,

Without inspecting the unit, I don't know what could have happened. The units are thoroughly tested during manufacture, but there's always a small % that fail. You may just have been unlucky.

Within a couple of weeks, I'm quite surprised that the store is giving you a hard time about exchange. Are you sure they don't have an exchange policy that covers a defective unit?

This just happened to me yesterday.  The screen booted up with the screen blinking with garbled letters.  The unit still works but the main display is scrambled.

The main difference from other bootups was that the aux cable connected to it wasn't plugged into an audio source, unplugging the aux cable or plugging the other end to an audio source seemed to have fixed it.  I needed to power down and up again.  More test when I get home tonight.

That definitely sounds strange. Once you've checked it out a bit, I'd visit your dealer right away and get a swap.

The device startted to spike in mic volume once in awhile after resolving the screen issue.  I've gone ahead and swapped the unit.

Ok cool. Sometimes that's just the best way to go. It sucks when you get a new piece of hardware and can't enjoy it right away!

The first unit had a good 2 week run.  My Touch that is the one feeling neglected right now.

That's why I shop long and mcquade. never had a problem exchanging or whatnot. When I had issues with my vlt they offered to order me a new one or lend me another product to use if I had to send it in.

I had a small display issue last weekend though. the power bar I was plugged into got kicked and turned off and on fast. my screen only showed something like demo and kept flashing. until I unplugged power for a couple mins then plugged back in. seen that twice now... hasn't hurt the unit

They've always been good to me as well. We referred to them as Long and Unpaid in my band, since we always had something on a payment plan hehe.

ya. I've had accounts with them since before they went computerized. they order my stuff in with no deposits, exchange stuff with no stocking charges and crap, even if I have used the item for a week or 2. customer service goes a long way in securing long time customers.

I can't believe a music store wouldn't try to fix your issue as they could easily lose a customer that could spend $10g in their store over a minor issue.
