Re: VoiceLive Rack ¿How to work recorded voices?

Hi LoboSolitario,

I'll need a bit more info to try and help out.

What setup do you have? How are you connecting the Rack? Do you want to record everything in real-time or send a pre-recorded track through the Rack and back to your recording device/computer?

Cheers,
Craig

My Friend CRAIG I am a singer/musician. Sometimes I would like to do as I am doing right now, recording directly with all the effects from recording my voice and/or instrument.

But NOW I need to travel ALL THE EFFECTS and even editing to get sounds more for me, and I am sure once I have all these chances very well known, in the very near future will be BETTER TO ME Record in simple and pure voice, and next steps from the RECORDED VOICE do all the experiments and tryings.

So this is what I need, to know how to setup my VOICELIVE TRACK to make the processing through the recorded voice.

An extra INFO I think is something with no chance to solve, beacuse is part of the mechanics. But just in case:

I had bought not only the VOICELIVETRACK but in the same day the VOICELIVEPLAY GTX

The sound of the GUITAR is copied by any MIC so the VOICE EFFECTS is tinily affecting the GUITAR and so the overall quality of the sound with an effect that is only desired on voice, but no the guitar.

I undestand THIS IS LOGICAL, and almost sure there is no solution for that. But I learn is better asking to the Gurus and see what comes from them

THANK YOU !!!

(And, lisent, by the way. I am very, very happy and proud to have this 2 gears)

Hi Ciro,

There's one setting in your I/O that should be changed, if you're trying to use the Rack as an insert to process pre-recorded vocals.

Change DIGITAL USB IN to: VOX L / INST R

Then, in Logic, make sure you send the Vocal track out the Left side of the Aux that feeds the Rack and the guitar (if there is one) out the Right side of the Aux going to the Rack.

Getting a USB device to work as an insert in Logic can be really annoying. You'll have to check out the Logic manual or other resources for that, since it's not my area of expertise.

Once you've got the lead vocal coming out of Logic and into the Rack, you'll need to return the Stereo USB to a NEW stereo track to record the effected vocals.

If you want to record just the effects and not the lead voice, turn Lead Mute ON. Then you'll have a dry vocal track and an effects vocal track in Logic that you can blend together.

For the GTX, if I understand correctly, the guitar is bleeding into the vocal mic. You need to use a mic with a tight polar pattern so that you reject the guitar sound as much as possible. That means either swapping mics, if you're using a condenser or other mic with a wide pickup pattern, and/or moving the mic relative to the guitar, so it doesn't come through as much.

The guitar and vocal effects in GTX take totally different paths, so there's no way for "bleed" to happen within the unit itself.

Hope that helps!

Re: VoiceLive Rack ¿How to work recorded voices?

Thanks Craig. I am going to try. Hope it works since I decide VOICELIVERACK instead VOLICELIVE2 by its main selling point (The chnce to work from recording voices)and your video/seller/musician when he SHOWS the Voicelive Rack uses an iMac exactly as mine. I don't know if Logic but ... any way. Hope this HELP you give me can put this piece to work as promised ... Will Let You Now wheter I could or could not .. Thanks !!!

Re: VoiceLive Rack ¿How to work recorded voices?

Craig,

Just wanted you know, I am in the task to get there.

Is just that the step-by-step you gave me STOPPED
me when I see the best way is to conect

"Then, in Logic, make sure you send the Vocal track out the Left side of the Aux that feeds the Rack
and the guitar (if there is one) out the Right side of the Aux going to the Rack."

I have a MIDI/AUDIO Rolland Cakewalk FA66 and the conexión OUT is USB

If there is any equipment to fullfill that conexions please tell me.

Meanwhile I am slowly trying to face how-to do it properly via USB.

Happens that I get intimidated when installations seems complicated. My nature of musician borrowed to techonology goes perfect when things are easy. But when things from the start get complicated my instinc is return to making music until I can get the spirit to face tecno difficulties.

Be sure, either if I could or couldn't will keep you informed via this same sequence posting. And will keep an eye to check when you recommend me anything on connecting Logic 9 to the Rack via audio cables, -not USB port-

Thanks !!!

Ciro
