Topic: Newbie

Just got my GTX, and I'm a little overwhelmed. I was able to get audio streaming through to GarageBand and I recorded myself singing/playing guitar. The problem is that the sound is bad, like there is a blanket over the recording. It sounds great through headphones, but not once its recorded. Any ideas?

Also, is the pitch correct setting in the setup menu, the setting that auto adjusts my vocal to the chords I'm playing?

Thanks everyone.

Re: Newbie

Hi gstern1994,

Hm, a difference between what you hear in the headphones and what's recorded could only be caused by a few things:

1. The recording quality is set low in garageband and it's losing information.
2. There's some sort of EQ or other processing going on that's changing the sound.
3. You're listening through speakers on playback, which sound different than the headphones.

Do any of those things apply to you?

The Pitch Cor Amt in Setup is Auto-Chromatic Pitch Correction that's applied to all the incoming mic signal. The setting that follows guitar/MIDI/aux etc. is in the Harmony effect block. If it says "Auto" in the middle-right window, it'll follow your instrument. If it's set to a key, D, F# etc. it'll stay in that key.

I set the Pitch Cor Amt to around 40% to correct my voice a bit all the time, then set the Harmony block to Auto, which will follow my instrument for harmonies and/or HardTune.

Hope that makes sense!

Cheers,
Craig
