Topic: Does Voiceworks Plus have the same Algorithms as Voicelive 2?

I have a Voicelive 2 and it is a real nice unit. I want to add another harmonizer for my Sax but I have enough pedals at my feet. Does the Voiceworks Plus use the same Harmony Algorithms as the Voicelive 2? In other words...Would one consider the Voiceworks Plus a "Voicelive 2 in a rackmount"?

Re: Does Voiceworks Plus have the same Algorithms as Voicelive 2?

Hiya Thor,

Whilst the Voiceworks Plus is a great unit the algorithms used for the harmonies are different to those used on VoiceLive 2. VoiceLive 2 uses the newer Natural Play algorithm as it is a newer product. You will find that the VoiceWorks / VoiceWorks Plus and VoiceLive Classic (1st VoiceLive) all use the same type of harmony algoritm.

This is not to say that the VoiceWorks Plus is not worthwhile. On the contrary, it is a great unit and excellent value at the moment if you look around online. I would suggest trying a VoiceWorks / VoiceWorks Plus at your local dealer might be a good idea.

Best wishes,

Joey

Hi there Joey,

Could you give any insight as to when a new rack unit is coming out?

Hiya Nick,

I'm unaware of any plans for releasing a new rack unit at this stage unfortunately.

Best wishes,

Joey

Re: Does Voiceworks Plus have the same Algorithms as Voicelive 2?

ah, thanks for the reply. i think they are going to soonish.

reason 1: they just dropped the price on most online stores
reason 2: the voicelive 2 is better than the voice worksplus, so they need a rack version to equal that. the customers want it, so hopefully they deliver soon. I don't see how hard it is to just throw the voicelive 2 in a rack effect.

Re: Does Voiceworks Plus have the same Algorithms as Voicelive 2?

The power of the VL2 lies in the fact that it has the perfect design for live-use. Of-course, you can always use the Vl2 in the studio. Just place it on a slanted surface and it's perfectly accessible.

Re: Does Voiceworks Plus have the same Algorithms as Voicelive 2?

that's exactly what i need it for, live use, but im a guitarist as well and everything i have is in a rack unit and control it all with one small midi pedal (liquid foot), so i need the rack version. i'm just hoping it comes sometime in the fall, but if it's better than the VL2, i can wait till NAMM.

Re: Does Voiceworks Plus have the same Algorithms as Voicelive 2?

You could place the VL2 next to your Liquid Foot-pedal. You will benefit from the large LCD-screen on the VL2. OK, you'll have some extra cables on stage, but even that can be solved with a multi-cable.
I use a Vox ToneLab SE and a VL2 next to each other on stage. I bought a multicable (TRS --> XLR) so I only have to run that one cable and still have all the desired connections. Works great for me. It takes some practice to blindly find all the right buttons, but that would also go for the extra functions you where planning to add to the Liquid Foot-controller.

Re: Does Voiceworks Plus have the same Algorithms as Voicelive 2?

if i buy the VL2 i wont use it on the floor bc i only want to have to press one button on my liquid foot (every time i press the same button("next"), the button cycles to the next preset (each preset in the midi foot pedal will change, VL2 effects, tc electronic g-major2, and a voodoo labs GCX switch board for my individual pedals in the rack), then i will have a previous, then 2 buttons to scroll through songs, and the other 4 will b used as needed) and it would be unnecessary to have the VL2 out there; i would end up shoving it in my rack. simplicity and consolidation is what i'm looking for. i might just do that if the rack version isnt out by fall. the VL2 is amazing, and i feel i might become impatient from waiting. hopefully tc helicon gets rid of all their excess voiceworksplus rack units so they can launch a new one.
