Topic: Wireless Mics

Ok,

I know Robert Lunte has done a great job at doing some reviews of the better mic choices, but wondering if anyone has or is gonna do a wireless mic review. Robert have you considered doing a review outside of the ones you did for corded Mics? Would be great to see one for various Wireless Choices for Vocalists.

Order the newest Singer&Musician magazine. It has a full review and tips for singers who use wireless mics.

Re: Wireless Mics

Yes, get the REV-H by Electro Voice... It is basically the wireless version of the EV767a , which is my favorite wireline dynamic mic.  Very good.

Re: Wireless Mics

I second the EV system but I favor the 510 capsule since I have loved and used the wired version for a long time.

Re: Wireless Mics

Again.....being a Guitarist/Vocalist, I need another perspective.  First, I prefer to use a *wireless headset mic* so that is part of the equation.  I, also, prefer to use a wireless unit on my guitar(s).  So, if anyone has seen a "dual-unit", I'd really appreciate the URL or info for it.  I KNOW they exist as I saw one last year and lost the link to it.  Normally, I write stuff like this down....and, may have but I changed laptops at that time and lost a lot of info during the switch.

Re: Wireless Mics

I currently use a wireless Beta58 and was wondering if one of these EV mics might be better. I do Screams and Growls from real low to real high. I also sing 50% of the time. I will be using it with the Correct and Create pedals. Let me know if these EV mics would suit my style. Thanks

Re: Wireless Mics

ATC... that is my set up... but I dont have my EV mic yet... its being delivered to me by the guys at EV... when I get it, Ill let you know. but essentially its the 767a in a wireless .

Re: Wireless Mics

Let me know if you think it will handle my range of different vocal styles

Re: Wireless Mics

I just tried the wireless 767a the other day and this thing is what I have been looking for. All my low growls, screams, and inhales can be heard without me straining. The singing sounds great through this set up as well. For those metal/hardcore/death metal style vocalist out there this is the mic for you. After I get this I don't think I will go back to Shure.

Re: Wireless Mics

I really like Beyerdynamic mics. It is unlikely you will find this stocked to try it out first, but check this out: http://www.fullcompass.com/product/236960.html
One problem with many receivers is they only support a few frequencies (ie A band, B band). In the near future HD is likely to cause some issues for many bands (frequency blocks).
Another thing to note is Electro-Voice has the 410 and 510 condenser capsules in a wireless rig for similar pricing as the 767a capsule setup.

Re: Wireless Mics

Robert,

Excellent review of wired mics. I looking to purchase a wireless system in the future, and I've looked for the REV-H by Electro Voice and am unable to locate it anywhere.

I like the EV 767 (wired), and yes, still like my Sure SM 58. I was able to locate an EV RE2-N7 which has the features of the wired EV 767 including the VOB. Have you used the RE2-N7 yet ?

It's a bit pricey at $500.00, so I may have to look at a competitors' product, similar to the REV-H or the new RE2-N7.

Jamie,

I downloaded the Singers & Musicians magazine with the wireless mics article, but the VC Forum is my first choice for advice !

Any help would be sincerely appreciated !!!

Thank you.... Adolph

Re: Wireless Mics

Nightprowler - not sure about Rev-H, but you can get a 510 condenser capsule for the same money. Here are your wireless EV options:

Re: Wireless Mics

Mark,

Thank you so much for your input. I checked out the site, and the Ev's are out of my price range for now. Like everyone else, we're all on a budget.

I like the features of the EV RE2-N7, as it has the same features as the wired Ev 767 with VOB. For a starter wireless, however, I'm looking for a decent wireless that I don't have to mortgage my home to buy it.

As an option, I've been checking into the Audio Technica mics, particularly the 200 or 700 series, but I've been unable to find any decent reviews on these products. Which brings me here, as this is THE place for expert advice.

I still like my wired mics, for various reasons, but I'd like to get a decent wireless as an option. I have quite a bit of equipment, and as I tend to move a lot when singing, I'm getting tired of "cable twist".

Hey, perhaps someone can come up with a non-twist xlr cable (or an adapter), that will solve that problem. I'm pretty good at "improvising" but not that good....

Thank you... Adolph

Hello Rychemaiden  smile

I don't know how I missed your post ????  I know we discussed the in ear monitors, but I don't believe we talked about the Sure Beta 58 Wireless Mic.... I'm checking on the mic @ guitar center as I'm writing this. I'm looking at the SLX2 model and the PGX2 Model. Is the latter the one you are referring, too ? From what I'm reading, the PGX2 may be just what I'm looking for.... fits my budget well !

Yeah, Guitar Center likes me, too.... They're always happy to see me walk into the store. I'll be there around the 1st of the month, and will have to check it out...

"Ask Nicely" ??? Oh, you know me well enough by now.... smile

Thank you so much  smile

Also, were you able to figure out the 'technique" I described regarding the eustacian tube problem we both have ? I realize it's somewhat difficult to describe in writing. If not, feel free to write back... smile  Worked great for for me....

gotta run!
