Topic: Audix OM5 vs Audix OM7

Hi guys

I need a mic that helps me minimizing extraneous signals like feedback but especially drum sound.
I am using a VoiceLive 2 and I cannot use the harmonies on the small stages we play.
To many other sounds get into the VL2 and the harmonies sound horribly scrambled.. sad
Therefor I think of getting either the OM5 or the OM7 as they should reduce the unwanted signals a lot...
Currently I use a Sennheiser e845 and also have a e865.
Both really nice mics, but as i already said I need something that just not picks up as much as they do .. smile

If you want to listen to how my voice sounds you can check our MySpace.
I don't know if one of the mics will better suit my voice, or maybe even both won't ... lol smile

Can you please tell me your experience with the Audix mics ...
And why one or the other would be more, or less suited for my purpose ...?

thanks in advance!
Cheers,
Timo

Re: Audix OM5 vs Audix OM7

I own the OM-5.  I just got it a few weeks ago, and don't have anything else to compare it to in the Audix family.  I am pretty sure the Shure SM58 has too wide of a pickup graph to be a good fit.  Initially, I was using a Shure SM57 instrument mic, but did have some warble from it on occasion.  The OM-5, especially when singing with my lips touching a foam windscreen, works very well for me.  The difference in pickup just based on the graphs Audix provides seemed minimal for the price difference between the OM-5 and -7, so I went with the -5.
