I'm noticing an uptick in the number of spam messages on the boards. I've tried to use the "report" link and flag 'em as spam, but I'm finding that the PunBB software requires a 60 second wait between reports. I have no idea why reporting is being limited like that! In the new posts since 8pm last night there's at least 6 spam messages or replies. I don't want to waste 5 minutes trying to report 'em. Is that REALLY the best/only way to try to kill the spam?

you report them and moderators deal with it. email registration for posting negates most and even then there is software. we had our forum getting hit and security is so high now people have to contact me sometimes just to register because it's not allowing their emails to register to post lol.
I hate spam crap. I just re reported one. have reported it since jan 05 and it's had 14 posts over this period. mind you we have a few mods to deal with stuff. I know every mod and admin on our forums get an instant email and link to the thread and post. a few clicks and a pull down menu and bye bye spammer. or person trying to sell a washing machine on a remote control car forum

Reporting spam messages will help to some extent. But we have to have the thought ourselves, only then all sites would be clean and Spam-free.
