microphone problem

hello guys, i am a newbie here, i want to know about the solution about my little problem, i have HP-Compaq2710p, the mic is very loud in it, even a very light sound it can detect, so i want to know if there is any way, to make its volume low?
please tell me if there is anyway to solve my problem
