Topic: Using Harmony G on precorded voice tracks

I've just finished recording a song that requires harmonies in some parts, but they are proving to be difficult for my (admittedly) limited voice, although the vocals themselves sound fine. The guitar and vocals are on separate tracks. Is there any way to run the guitar track and the vocal track through the Harmony G, but only get the harmonized vocals as the output? I assume that if the guitar output is recorded as well, latency might make it sound too thick, or not in sync.
(I admit to being a technical idiot).

Or, do I have to re-sing the vocals, using the on-off switch to control the harmonies? I use the Harmony G on gigs and it's harmonies are better than mine, so I'd really like to find a way to make it work.
Thanks

Re: Using Harmony G on precorded voice tracks

Hiya Richard,

You have a couple of options here...

The first one would be to send the vocals only out of your interface and into the Harmony-G. Then, set the appropriate key and scale on the unit to create the harmonies you're looking for and re-record this to a separate track using the Harmony-G's outputs.

Alternatively, if you have an interface with multiple outputs you could set up the guitar and vocal track to go out on separate channels. Then, run the guitar into the guitar input and the vocals into the mic input and record the result as the Harmony-G harmonizes with the guitar part on a separate track. You can change the level of the harmonies and the guitar on the Harmony-G to suit your taste.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes,

Joey

Hello Joey

Thanks for the prompt response. I will try both suggestions.
