Topic: Mid-Performance Crash !!

Hello;

Twice now, my VL2 Extreme has exhibited a very strange behavior when switching presets. The unit seems to fall into a state that severely restricts the audio out and makes the voice squeak. To clear the condition I have to turn the unit off and then on.

Both times it has happened at an outdoor concert, here in TX where the heat on stage is probably 95+ degrees F...

Has anyone else experienced this ??????

Thanks

Re: Mid-Performance Crash !!

Your answer is right there...it's too hot.  and 95+F air temperature is probably more like 160+F inside a black box with electronics that are generating their own heat.

It does state a wide Operating Temperature Range: 32° F to 122° F (0° C to 50° C)
(back of the manual) but i'm guessing you are way over this -

Put a hood over it to block the sun if thats the issue (it will help you see the screen too) or at least put a fan blowing on it to help dissipate the heat.

I've seen this happen with tons of pedals at outdoor concerts - I've burnt my hand on a pedal on stage in the sun!

Re: Mid-Performance Crash !!

Hi Rebel.... Well, ok! I'll have to figure out a cooling method... the hood may or may not work, It will help to see the screen and the LED's for each switch, which can't be seen at all! ....

I have another show today (Saturday) it's much cooler but still concerned....

You'd think that outdoor temps in the summer would be part of the design specification....
