Topic: Band - Setting up 2 VoiceLive Racks with one computer. Help?

My situation is this:
I have a band and we just bought 2 Voicelive Racks for the back up vocalists. One for the bass player and one for myself. All I want to do right now is send MIDI channel (ch 16) program change message to change programs on both Voicelive Racks from  my MIDI keyboard. i.e. : when I change program on my keyboard to a specific song, the voicelive racks change to the same song user preset. I (think) I know how to set this up on the keyboard(a computer...www.MusicComputing.com...Studio Blade) and to set up the VLR presets....BUT how do I connect the gear?

Is the below configuration correct?
Sending messages out of keyboard on ch 16.
Set both VLR units to receive on ch 16.
I will be coming out of the computer/keyboard with a Midi cable to:
VLR #1 (in)
then from #1 (MIDI out)
to VLR #2 (in)

Is this correct?

Any help much appreciated.
(I'm picking up VLRs in a couple of hours and have /rehearsals/shows immediately)

Hi rank,

The setup looks good to me, with one exception. Use THRU from VLR #1 to VL2 #2 instead of OUT. That way the MIDI doesn't run the risk of having additional CC messages added to the signal by VLR #1 before it gets sent to VLR #2.

You can also set both units to receive chord info from your keyboard via the MIDI and drive harmonies with it. You can take a couple of BG singers and make things sound a bit sweeter with some extra harmony, or make it sound downright huge if you want to. smile

Hope that helps,
Craig

Thanks!

Also, I'm trying to send a program change from Cantabile 2.0 (Performer ed.) to the VoiceLive Rack. Are you familiar with this program. I'm sort of stumped.

I found something...this might be it, in case there are any other Cantabile users (a live VST host) users out there:

"....well, simply create a new trigger in triggers menu, set "Event" to "Session Load", select "Send MIDI Program Change..." in the action menue, select the MIDI Device and MIDI Port in the "Action" menu and select the MIDI channel you want to send on.

In the Send MIDI Program Change... folder you will get a menu where you can deside the format of the prgram change (you find a short descrition of the possibilities on the bottom of the window). In your case and corresponding to your example it should be: 6.71   "
