Topic: pitch correction

I sing some of my covers pretty good (Jerry Lee Lewis, Dire Straits) because the melody doesn't have much range.  Other songs like 'Release Me' are not so good because of the big jumps.

I really could use some pitch correction, and I see a couple choices like the TC stomp box and a Tascam TA-1VP. I currently use a VL2, which is a wonderful box, but so far it doesn't pitch correct as much as I need (or I haven't found it yet).

Any suggestions along this line?

Re: pitch correction

the automatic pitch correction can help with small correction as it center the note, if you don't do.

so.. a 30% of difference from C can become C.

But if you sing a B, or an A instead of a C the pitch correction center the B or the A.

Different is a Note correction (not pitch) that you can drive via midi with a keyboard. You can set the voicelive 2 to play your voice via keyboard.
you could talk the song and play it via note processing.

It's possible drive the melody via the midi melody channel of a sequencer sending the channel four to drive your voice... (it's possible for the harmony too) But pay attention to this, becaus if you're not sure of the origin of the midi file it can have midi sysex command inside for other outboard, tha sometimes have crashed VL2 firmware being necessariny to send it tu supoprt service for restoring.

Re: pitch correction

Is 'different' a named patch on the VL2?  I've tried playing the melody but it's hard not to get it smooth.. perhaps I need to work at it more.

Re: pitch correction

no different means..

that "pitch correction" is different from "note correction"
You can use the "note" presets in voicelive...
looking that you have some that use note for the harmony and some for the lead voice. You can have a male or female voice "played by VL2" starting from your voice and midi notes.

Re: pitch correction

So... what you're saying is that these pitch correction devices really don't do the job?

Re: pitch correction

no i didn't told it.

a pitch correction adjust small variance tuning a note slightly detuned.

That works perfectly. Is the same pitch correction of professional software.

But if you fail strongly a note you cannot correct the pitch you have to "change" completely the pitch you must change the note.
Now... do you think it's possible for a piece of machine to know if your C (Do) would have been a G (Sol)? It isn't...
But it's possible you you give this information via midi with a keyboard or the melody notes from a sequencer. So you sing a C, play a G on the keyboard, the lead voice in VL2 is muted (as it's playing a C) and the vocal harmonizer of the machine transform your C note with the pitch played by the keyboard...
I hope now its more clear to understand.

I can't better.
