Topic: Harmony G-XT Settings?

I've had the Harmony G and I have been useing G-XT since it came out. I D/L the newest update and just wondering if I am imagineing things or did the volumm on the harmonies drop? Also, I put my harmonies at 10:00-11:00 for almost all of my vocals, sometimes 12:00 or 1:00, otherwise it starts to sound too fake. Anyone else have setting that they like?

Re: Harmony G-XT Settings?

About the same for me.

Re: Harmony G-XT Settings?

I've got another issue. Has anyone had to turn their Reverb up alot for outside gigs? I am useing the Hall #1 Broadway Hall and it's at 3:00 and that seems a bit weak. Not sure I would even have to go that high. I am wondering if when I D/L the last patch for the G-XT it made a difference?

Re: Harmony G-XT Settings?

Heya gc24,

When you're outside, there's zero natural reflection within the space, so having to use more reverb level to get the sound you want is perfectly normal.

Re: Harmony G-XT Settings?

That might be true, except that I also use a Boss Reverb pedal on the bypass for my guitar and I get really good reverb. Haven't had to alter that at all.

Re: Harmony G-XT Settings?

Anyone tried useing a 3rd and a 3rd on a song and had good results or is it just overkill? Tryin gfigure out the best harmonies for Bad Finger's "No Matter What" and "Day After Day"

Re: Harmony G-XT Settings?

The biggest mistake most folks are making with this unit is to try and replicate distinctive harmonies. The MIDI unit were you program in a midi track the exact notes you want is the best way to get exact harmonies. Most of the distinctive harmonies are not going to be just 3rds & 5ths.The GXT is supposed to react  to the chords that are played into it but MY experience is that this can result in some strange harmonies.I think the GXT is sort of like an instrument. It takes a lot of time, patience & practice to learn what the relationship of the guitar chords and harmonies are going to be.
