Topic: VoiceLive Play Preamps and Presets

Hi Everybody,

I would like to ask you about three things:

What is the quality of mic-preamps in the VoiceLive? I know that the prise-range of the new equipment isn't high end, but is it designed only for hobby purposes? (eg. rehearsals ect.) or can I really use it on stage in a club during a gig?

And what about the presets... after reading the manual I am a little bit confused. It seems that a user is able to store his own presets but as far as I understand, I can do it by changing the default factory preset. Does it mean that if I change some parameters of the factory presets (let's say - according to prom video - distorted Vox <187>) I overwrite it and the factory preset is changed forever or am I able to create my own separate presets? If so, how many? just being curious...

and last but not least... can I navigate with up/down buttons only between my favorite presets?

Best regards.
Peter

PS: It would be nice to see more details video about VoicePlay Live.

Re: VoiceLive Play Preamps and Presets

Hi Peter,

You can save your own presets in any or all of the available slots (up to 350). The factory bank is preserved permanently in the low level memory of the unit. You can save/restore your own presets and restore factory presets within our VoiceSupport application.

The pre-amps are definitely meant to be used in a gig situation!

Cheers,
Craig

Re: VoiceLive Play Preamps and Presets

Hi Craig,

thanks for the answer, good to know. So, I'll take a risk and I'll invest in TC VL Play;)

cheers.

Re: VoiceLive Play Preamps and Presets

Hi.

Just bought one of these VLP GTX's and looking forward to some excellent sounds.

A couple of questions?

1/   I would like to keep all the existing presets but move them to higher preset values leaving 1 - say 100 for my own favorites. Is this possible?

2/   I understand that TCH are releasing more presets as time goes on, are any released yet and where are they.

My thanks in advance

Paul

Re: VoiceLive Play Preamps and Presets

Paulismyname,
you bought one? or pre-ordered it?
Anyway, my guess is that the presets will only be available when you use the voicesupport app. I think it's the only way to load them onto your VLP.
As far as moving presets around... I'll hand that one over to Craig smile

Re: VoiceLive Play Preamps and Presets

Hi Paul,

You can move the presets around in VoiceSupport, leaving room for your own presets early in the group.

There haven't been any preset packs released yet. I believe the 1st one is scheduled for March. You may have noticed that there are already preset "packs", representing all of the various genres in the Play, within VoiceSupport. They're on the right hand side of the screen with pretty little icons. You can drag the whole "pack" into your preset area, or drag one by one from the list that shows up when you click on a "pack". When we release new presets, they will be at the top of the area containing the Genre presets.

Cheers,
Craig

Re: VoiceLive Play Preamps and Presets

Hi Craig.

Great, thanks.

I have connected my Voiceliveplay GTX (Yep Roxville I have got one !!!) and played with Voicesupport. However I can not get the current factory presets to move lower in the table giving me say preset 1 - 40 for my own new creations. I have also tried to delete a factory preset but when you click "apply changes" the preset stays on the device and within Voicesupport.

Can you help please ?

Regards
Paul

Re: VoiceLive Play Preamps and Presets

Paul, I have a question for you. Can you tell me a little about what guitar sounds you use and what kind of guitar (electric or acoustic) you use? I wanna know as much as possible about how you think the guitar sounds...sound! smile

Re: VoiceLive Play Preamps and Presets

Heya Paul,

The way VoiceSupport is set up, you can't leave "blank" spaces. When you delete a preset within VoiceSupport, and then "apply changes" it will restore the factory preset for that location.

My suggestion would be to select all of the presets and then move them to #41-300+, then take the "Blank Preset" preset, the one at the very end of the factory bank, and copy it into slots 1-40. Then, you have a bunch of presets to modify and rename however you like.

Hope that helps!

If you want more info on how VoiceSupport works, the manual is on the support page.

Re: VoiceLive Play Preamps and Presets

Hi Craig.

I have tried that but as soon as you move the factory presets it wont let you do any copy / paste of the blank presets until you click "apply Changes". Then it just reinstalls the factory presets into that nice blank space you created and so you are back to square one. !!!!!

Checked the manuel and it does not explain it .

Regards

Paul

Re: VoiceLive Play Preamps and Presets

Hi Roxville.

Give me a few weeks to have a play and I will get back to you. the factory presets sound great at home on my Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue (set to clean) but I have not taken the unit to a rehearsal at a decent volume yet.

Paul

Re: VoiceLive Play Preamps and Presets

Has anyone heard of when they will be actually shipping in the USA?

I'm very curious on how acoustic guitar will sound through them.....

Re: VoiceLive Play Preamps and Presets

Heya kferris,

They should be available in about 2-3 weeks, depending on how each individual store deals with warehousing/shipping etc. They could receive them sooner than later, but have to fire them out to all the stores, which could add some time.

We authored about 8 acoustic guitar styles, which simulate an acoustic amp with effects. I think it sounds pretty darn good. Of course, you can modify any existing style and save those changes to a preset. (Styles can't be changed permanently, they're kinda like factory presets)

Got your email. I made a video for you!

Re: VoiceLive Play Preamps and Presets

Hi Craig.

Brilliant, worked a treat !!!!! Thank you :-)

One last question - I thought the voicelifeplay GTX had an inbuilt guitar tuner, I cant find it anywhere or any reference in the instructions. I bought this to replace my entire pedal collection.

Regards
Paul

Re: VoiceLive Play Preamps and Presets

Hi Paul,

If you've got a guitar plugged in, press/hold the HIT button to bring up the tuner.

There was a change to the manual to include the guitar tuner. You should see it on page 6 under "Switches and Operation".

Re: VoiceLive Play Preamps and Presets

Hi Craig ,
You ever thought about posting more video "how to's" on the LIVE/GTX on YouTube ? That was a great job. I own the Live and would love to see some more expert hands on videos or how to's!

Pete

Re: VoiceLive Play Preamps and Presets

Yep, we've got a few new GTX videos coming that Tom did with Tore from TCE and I just finished one with Georgia (it was so rough spending the day with a beautiful girl tongue) that's very exhaustive and goes over every setting in the Play. We're just doing post production on them and I'd expect to see some stuff in the coming weeks.

Re: VoiceLive Play Preamps and Presets

That sounds great!
Thanks for everything you guys do and please let us know when you post them up to youtube!

well... and I did. I got brand new blue box on last Wednesday. I opened the box, plugged it and you know what?... good bye - it was broken down. Really, I couldn't believe... I was waiting so long and I was interested in VoicePlay from the very beginning and..such a surprise. I am not writing it, because I am mad or frustrated - just little bit disappointed - but sh^& happens... Well I understand that such things just happens and even Mercedes used to had some problems, but I thought I could use it on my gigs in April. Now it seems I can forget about it. What's more... this TC VoiceLive Play is my first TC gear I've bought....

I haven't had fun with it yet, but I hope I will, and that the dealer exchange it without any problems.

And speaking about problems...
on the youtube link below you can see what was wrong with the TC I ordered. In my opinion it's something with the wiring inside - because when i pressed the cover, it was loosing power. On the first glance the power supplier, cables and its connection is ok.

Peter

Re: VoiceLive Play Preamps and Presets

Hi Peter,

Well... that just plain sucks. I'm so sorry that you got a defective unit. I'd take it back to the store asap, so that you can swap it out.

The top of the unit, with the screen etc. are connected internally with a series of pins. I wonder if something was incorrectly done at the factory. I've seen about 40 of the units come through our office and have never seen that problem. I'll forward the videos to our head engineer, just to make sure he doesn't see something I'm not.

Thanks and sorry!

Craig
