Topic: New to VL2 Question about wiring and setup

Hi All,
I just bought a VL2 and have a  question or two. I will be using this live and only have one channel available to me on the mixer. Therefore, i will connect Left Mono out of VL2 to the board? -- Do I setup the VL2 as MONO in the system menu or just leave it as stereo?

Last question is, I hear all these great demos with a very definitive Hardtune effect from the VL2.  I just don't hear that on mine.  Granted, I just got it and am listening through headphones only. I most likely will not attach a guitar, keyboard, or midi device to the unit.

I did set the key correctly and it is there, just not very present like I hear on the demo.

Any hints on some settings for a newbie?

Much appreciated.

Hello fazmanicg,

I'm no expert on the VL2, but i think you should definitely set the VL2 to MONO, and use the Left channel.

I don't use the hard tune effect, but i think one of the first presets on the VL2 (kaney lockdown, or something like that), has the hard tune effect. Just start from there. Edit to your liking, and then save it on another preset with a different name.

Thats the one i use to make the band laugh. tongue

Thanks. That's what I did.  If you go to the product page of the VoiceLive 2, there is a T-Pain / Cher ... Audio Demo. That is what I want, however, no matter how I tweak any of the hardtune presets, I can't even get close to that. Also, It sounds like there is a doubling effect on my voice even though the Double button is not on.  If you listen to that MP3, it is quite clear that it is a single voice.  I can't recreate that for nothing.  Been working on it for quite a while now.  Could sure use some help.

All Set.  Turns out it was quite the illusion in my head. I recorded the audio coming out and all is well.  Funny how the mind works.

Re: New to VL2 Question about wiring and setup

Heya fazmanicg,

What you experienced is very common. When using any sort of pitch correction, you will hear the corrected sound and the sound resonating within your own head while you sing. Unless you're perfectly on key, the two signals will be slightly out of time/phase with each other and sound like doubling.

Rest assured that it's not something the audience will hear. Also, the less you hear the "doubling" the closer you are to the right pitch, so you can use it as a training tool to improve your singing. smile

Thank Guys .... This thing is pretty awesome.  Gonna have the guitar player come over tomoorow and see what it can do for harmonies.  Looking forward to it.

WOW so glad I found this forum. I have learned so much from you guys. Thanks a million for all the questions and answers. Now I might just be able to use mine with confidence lol. I have had this thing for the better part of a year, I have been a member here for one hour and have learned more than all the tweaking button tapping this past year put together. Peace.
