Topic: Midi control

Hello

Is it possible to control functions on the VLT by way of midi signals created by a keyboard.

It would be great to load a VLT preset when loading a keyboard Style.

Cheers Jim.

Re: Midi control

Hi Jim,

In my setup, I'm controlling my VLT from my Boss GT8 guitar effects unit via a single Midi cable, so I guess you should be able to do the same from a keyboard, or other Midi enabled device.

If you take a look at page 27/28 of the user manual (download from the TCH website) it describes the Midi implementation of the VLT.

With my setup the GT8 simply sends the patch number to the VLT when the patch changes, which instructs the VLT to change to the same patch number.  Depending on the capabilities of your keyboard you should be able to control a whole load of other settings on the VLT.

If you can find a Midi implementation manual for your keyboard it should give you the information you need to work out what you can control, and how...

Hope this helps.
Matt.

Re: Midi control

Hi Matt.

Thank you for your response, what you mentioned above is exactly what I was wondering.
I did download the manual but page 27 and 28 did not mean anything to me, just a lot of numbers.
I will investigate the midi implications as my keyboard is a recent model and should be able to send those messages.
Midi is something I do not understand too well but I am sure if I keep looking and reading I will find what I am after.
At present I am only sending 1 channel to the VLT obviously there must be others with event changes.

Thanks again.  Cheers Jim.

Re: Midi control

MIDI can be a beast but what you want to do is near the glossy surface and not deep in the programming depths....  What you are after is called a program or preset change - at the very basic level you just need to make sure your keyboard and the VL TOuch are on the same MIDI channel, and connect a MIDI cable from the 'OUT' of your keyboard to the 'IN' of the VL Touch.   Find out how to send a Program Change or Preset Change from your keyboard (might be as easy as changing the preset as it could just be enabled)

Here is a great kickstart in MIDI:

Hi Jeepers.

Thanks for the advice and the link.

I have some reading to do.

There must many keyboard players wanting this feature so I will keep updating.

Cheers Jim.
