Topic: Praise for Audix OM-7

Hi all

I'm new to singing, being a proficient keyboard player.  Struggled for a couple of years to find my voice with SM mics including a Beta 58.  Had trouble with feedback.

But I have now tried the Audix OM-7 and there's a big different.  Nice smooth sound which really matches my voice.  It doesn't have the upper mid eq bias the SMs seem to have, but this works better for me.  It also works better with the Voicelive 2.  Louder stage volumes so I can hear better due to better feedback rejection.  Best thing is I don't have to sing at full volume to cut through

The OM needs about 10db more of gain into the preamp / Voicelive compared to a Beta 58 because of its low sensitivity.

You've got to sing 'slobber close to the mic because its an ultra-close pattern, but I do this anyway.

I"ve been swayed for some time by the talk of the SM58 being the 'industry standard' and the Beta is a good mic, don't get me wrong.  But the Audix is so much better (for me)

Worth giving it go.

Cheers
(I'm nothing to do with the company)

I agree. I just replace my Neumann with the OM-7 for performance, and love it.

Fantastic mic - it, the MP-70 and the EV767 all kick ass and are essential for clear vox.
