Topic: Voice Live Rack vs. Voice Pro (Live Setting)

After a couple of months with the Voice Live Rack, I finally think I have this thing fine tuned to my needs, which are primarily for live use. I am very satisfied with the sound quality in this price range, but I just can't help wondering how this unit stacks up against a now discontinued piece of gear such as the Voice Pro. I have experimented with voice modeling in the Voice One but this does not really provide any use for me as a performer. Aside from the modeling and studio editing features offered in the Voice Pro, is there anything usefull in a live setting that would be of better quality than what the VLR offers? My search for the perfect vocal processor began years ago with the original Voice Prism. Just wondering if my search has finally ended with the Voice Live Rack.

Re: Voice Live Rack vs. Voice Pro (Live Setting)

Hi mojo,

My 2c is that all of the improvements that have been made to Harmony/Pitch detection, Reverb/effect algorithms, ease of use, editing, peripherals etc. over the years have all made their way into the Rack.

We found that our modeling efforts (Helicon's Next Top Model anyone?) didn't reach a point where we and the customers were truly amazed by it, which is why you don't see it in current products. We may revisit it in the future when we have oodles of processing power to throw at it.

If the Rack is fitting the bill for you, then I'd call your search over. The VoicePro is a solid unit to be sure, but Rack is the new-hotness from our pov.

Maybe some VoicePro owners can weigh in?
