Topic: Anti-feedback vs gate?

Hello all, new guy here looking into some of the TCH stuff for my live and rehearsal vocals.

I am looking into this the Correct XT for the tone shaping abilities as well as the Anti-Feedback feature. However, do the other models, such as the G-XT buck feedback with the noise gate? Or is my thinking a bit off.

I am really sold on it since it has the Anti-Feedback capabilities, and this is what has me looking at this model vs the Harmony G-XT.

In any case, I am looking at something that is not too feature laden, something with a simple user interface that I can use at practice as well as live.

Thanks for your help and input in advance!!!

Re: Anti-feedback vs gate?

Hi bonedish,

Both Gate and Anti-Feedback can help with feedback, but the dedicated Anti-Feedback system in the Correct-XT is much, much more complex and effective than gating. It's actively looking at all of the incoming audio and adapting several eq bands to "snipe" out feedback as it occurs. Gating can help if there's minor feedback when you're not singing, since it can clamp down and turn off the audio, but it's not "smart" like the Correct-XT is.

Does that help?

Re: Anti-feedback vs gate?

Thanks for the explanation.

I guess I need to decided whether or not I'd need the Anti-Feedback feature. I don't experience too much feedback, so the gate on the G-XT may be enough.

Does this sound right?

Re: Anti-feedback vs gate?

Yep, if you don't find yourself encountering feedback a lot, the gate may be enough to act as a safeguard.

Of course, the Harmony G-XT has the harmony effects in it, which the Correct XT doesn't, so they're quite different in terms of what they offer.

We did add auto-chromatic pitch correction to the Harmony G-XT via the Tone circuit, so it's got some correction on board, but it's not as configurable as the Correct.
