Anyone know how to get the switch-3 work with the Hit button

Hi pewa,
The Switch3 operation in the Play and Play GTX is purely to mimic the Loop functions. It essentially breaks the looper controls out, so that you can still have full access to preset up/down, hit, tap tempo, key/scale (if it's set to UP/DN in setup) while having the 3 looper buttons available at all times.
Cheers,
Craig

is there any reason to hope for more functionality of switch3? i am thinking about independent guitar sound control or possibility to assign a patch directly do buttons 1,2,3? Or maybe are you planning some midi controller support? I am ordering gtx today but as it is now there is no reason for me to order it with switch3.

Hi pidri,
There aren't any plans to add functions to the Switch 3. You'd have to look at a VoiceLive 2 or Rack to get full control of functions via the S3.

Hi there,
Sorry to insist on this topic but I aggree it would be of great interest to be able to mimic the VLP switch functions (hit, up and down) with the switch 3. I'm actually playing as a onemanband (guitar, harmo, footdrum) and the possibility to control the vlp without bending down with the all stuff would be very useful.
Really no hope to see this "simple" function in a future firmware upgrade?
Otherwise the VLP GTX is really great, no more need of my four pedals system, with the possibility to have guitar, harmo and voice effects of great quality.
Thank you in advance for your answer.

I couldn't agree more. Even if it was an app or something, I would totally pay a fee bucks for extra functionality. It would be super easy to do. You can do add-ons with the TC-Helicon programs for phones and stuff, so why not capitalize on that idea? You heard it here folks.
But.... Up/Dn and Hit are the buttons on the VLP... it's only sightly larger than the Switch 3. Not sure I see the point on this one.
Cheers,
Craig
Hi Craig,
I'll to make myself clearer.
I see several reasons to deport the VLP switches function (Hit Up/down) to the switch3, here they are:
- You could place the VLP near at hand to facilitate setup changes such as input level (when switching the input instrument with different input levels for instance), turn the tone correction to on and off (usefull when playing an harmonica song that mustn't be corrected), simply adjusting effects parameters staying in your playing position, or checking your singing accuracy.
- It would ease the view of the controls so you don't need to look down to check which preset is active or if the hit button is correctly engaged, and also control the loop time when recording.
- It would reduce the number of cables at your feet and also avoid to accidentally hurt the lcd screen or buttons when trying to blindly hit the switches. By the way it would probably extend the life of the VLP (switches) and I'd prefer to replace a switch3 pedal, even if it's probably almost undestructible !
I know this functionnality has been developped for the VL Touch (with much more options), I also know that several owners of harmony G pedal have been looking for this feature (possibility to deport the "hit" button).
From my point of view it would be a really great ergonomic improvement, and would surely boost your switch3 sales
One first improvement, (waiting for other options), could be the possibility to assign the loop functions to the VLP and the Hit up/down functions to the switch3.
What do you think of that?
Thx for your next answer.
Motho, looking forward
Ah I see now. Thanks for the clarification ![]()
It's an interesting suggestion. I'll toss it into the database and the dev's will argue over it. I'll watch. hehe.
