Topic: Voiceworks Plus Questions

Hi Everyone,

I have been all through the tc-helicon support forums, and I was wondering if this is a good place to post some basic voiceworks plus questions, as I can't seem to find a forum on the main tc-helicon site.

For instance, this might be a really dumb question, but sorry, I'm brand new to the unit. I have tried experimenting with an empty patch where I have only enabled pitch correction, and quite honestly I can't really tell that it does anything. For example, if I sing a "C", and then I attempt to sing it slightly flat, it creates kind of a strange wavey sound, but it doesn't "correct" my pitch up to C, so I find it find it fairly useless.

I'm the first to admit this could just be my sheer lack of understanding of what it's supposed to do, or perhaps I'm not implementing it correctly.

Would love to hear other's experiences with using pitch correction properly.

Thanks!
-Nick

Re: Voiceworks Plus Questions

Welcome VoiceWorksPlus user!

Pitch correction is very subtle unless a) the parameters (Window, Attack and Amount) are cranked to full values. In this case, it's more of an effect than correction.

There are two patches in the unit: 51 and 52 that feature only pitch correction to help users such as yourself experiment.

Actually, when you are hearing that wavey sound, you are being corrected. record the output and listen to it to hear this. When it's working perfectly you shouldn't hear anything other than the slight chorusing on notes that are above or below pitch.

Re: Voiceworks Plus Questions

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your  response, I will certainly take a look at those patches this week. I spent quite a while this weekend getting used to the unit, and while I agree with a lot of users that the unit has a pretty scary learning curve, I'm not finding the GUI all that difficult to use, it's more of lack of understanding of how the parameters work in relation to other parameters.

-Thanks again!
