Re: Chiropractic treatment

RycheMaiden- Yes, don't remember the post ,but remember the comment- more discomfort then actual pain as the throat stretchs in the lowest register- i have to watch my wording on here lol or i get beat over the head lol - i disagree with many of the statement i think the problem with the advanced singers on here is they forget how things worked and felt when they began. Most new singers will expirience discomfort and or an occassional sore throat- if they start in metal or rock(heavier material) they will all usually have some chest pull- tensions etc. So i hear people saying it should be relaxed, effortless, always painless - to me this will halt the progress of many people- you don't want to do damage, but some bumps along the developement track are usual not unusual.

Re: Chiropractic treatment

Rychemaiden,

My apologies for the mistake in my last post- I mentioned "getting the Correct first" I meant the CREATE. Then I purchased the Correct. As Robert puts it - The create has the "mojo...
But I will be getting the "Double" sometime.

Anyway, my apologies.

Re: Chiropractic treatment

Hi Nightprowler, Elnico, Darren, Jaime & Rychemaiden & Chen

I read through all these (eventually)and was humbled to share your stories. Singing is the best thing a soul can do for their health and I too have a story as I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia about 4/5 years ago. I use Chiropractic treatment regularly a gentle specialist technique called McTimoney Chiropractic Treatment and would not be without it. Yes it helps your body but there are dubious practitioners as in any branch of anything! You have to find the right one for you.

If you like my voice Nightprowler I think my course will benefit you greatly.I wish you much love on your recovery. I hope Chen you enjoyed session 1?
Yes Jaime I share the morning after a hotel bed muscle problem too. I have a waterbed and have slept on it for 20 years a godsend for structural and muscle problems. Trick now is not having drafts blowing through the night from open windows...usually in hotels you open the window for air!
Keep on singing Darren.....quite a journey youve taken too.

As for the equipment discussion I'll keep out of that one for now.

love
Hilary

This is even probably philosophically true.   In Plato's Republic, he describes the happy person as a hunter in the day, and at night time, sit around the fire and sing praises to the gods.   Unfortunately, at this website, according to Plato, we'll never be happy because we sing the wrong type of songs.  smile

Re: Chiropractic treatment

Hillary,

You're absolutely right - My singing has done a lot for my soul, and has eased the "pains" for me, both emotionally and physically.

And along with that, joining this "forum" was one of the best decisions I have made. I have "met" and made so MANY new friends who have helped me in too many ways to mention, in both a professional and personal way. One in particular (you know who you are - I have the need to add the "smiley" with this one  smile ), has been a "true friend" and has helped me through some rather difficult times. I feel very fortunate...

I will have to email you, Hillary, with regards to the lessons. Hope you don't mind....

Thank you so much !

Re: Chiropractic treatment

Hi Hilary, NP, everyone smile Thanks for the insight Hilary. That you have FM and do what you do, incredible. Was convinced due to chronic unspecific muscle pain, fatigue, etc.  I had that too, Doc said no. Very weird. Had to stop using the waterbed cause it hurt the back, but I loved the temp... Got a temperpedic, it relieves the "pressure points"? i love it. And I agree with Adolph, and you Hilary, singing is from within, and good for the soul, and is a "release" from pain....whether physical, or other smile

Re: Chiropractic treatment

Rychemaiden,

I had a couple of waterbeds myself over the years, and had the same problem. The first was a full wave, and the second a waveless. They were great at first, then all of a sudden they made my back, and neck, WORSE. A couple of other people told me the same thing....

Then I installed a whirlpool tub. Helps on occasion, but sometimes, causes more pain... ??? But it is still nice to relax from time to time....

Were you able to understand the eustacian tube "technique" I sent you ? Worked great for me - I'm back  "in action"" again. I did the best I could with it. If so, I'd like to post it here sometime to help any others who may have the same issues... But I want to make it as understandable as I can...

Hope all is well with you... smile

Re: Chiropractic treatment

Hilary,

You've aroused my curiosity regarding the "equipment discussion" you referred to on 7/18.
I'd be interested in your perspective sometime when you get a chance....

Feel free to email me when you're not too busy....

Re: Chiropractic treatment

Cheers NP drop me a line

Re waterbeds....did you ever change the matresses? You need to buy new ones regularly. If you don't then yes you start to get back problems.

As for whirlpools.....I have one of those too and use it at least once a week.
I'm away from home now...have been for 4 months so far.....and boy do I know how much I'm missing them both!

Catch up again soon

love
Hilary

Re: Chiropractic treatment

Hi Rychemaiden,  smile

No, I was taught that technique by Craig, my chiro.  Unless, it was coincidental that the technique was posted here before I was a member. I know there were posts regarding the "hyoid", recently, but not aimed specifically with the technique that I sent you, regarding "clearing" the eustacian tubes.

I also know that Jamie offers some excellent advice in RYV (2nd edition), regarding sinus problems (beginning on page 169), Chapter 13, as well as some "remedies" for other common problems. But this technique was taught to me by my chiro several weeks ago.  But this is why I suggest RYV to everyone I know - it's a VERY comprehensive book. It's my second "bible", so to speak. Sorry, Jamie- as much as I use RYV, it still comes in second, if you know what I mean...

I'm still trying to figure out how to "post" this technique for others who may have the same difficulties. Were you able to figure it out the way I described it ? If so, then I will post it the same way. It worked so well for me ! But you know how hard it was to describe it when I sent it to you... But I think I'll do the best I can, and the post some links regarding the second part of the technique, which involves the hyoid bone.

Were you able to locate the links, or were the ones I attached of any help to you ?  I hope so - I did my best smile

Yes, by all means, try it. And I hope it works as well for you as it did for me. Also, if you are using any ear drops, herbal (as I do), or otherwise, make sure you don't use them too long, or it will cause further complications. And if you do use them, make sure you flush out your ears with an ear syringe.  I hope you begin to feel better, too.... smile  Let me know how it works for you.... If you find that you need it described better, you know you can contact me whenever you wish....:)

Re: Chiropractic treatment

Rychemaiden,

Hi there smile  Glad that was of help to you... smile  If I can ever help with other "issues", you know you can count on me.... smile

I'm in the process of "refining" the wording of the the techniques that I sent you so I can post them.
I know it was a bit difficult to understand, as I went over what I sent to you. It's just taking some time, as like you, I'm trying to reply to a LOT of emails (catching up) - YOU know what I mean smile

I'll be sure to tell my doc today that his techniques were of help to you also... He will be glad to hear  that !
