Topic: Courses?

I've just been so excited lately that my songwriting has become more fun and interesting as my singing has improved, and was interested to see if anyone else had similar experiences. The method I mentioned (I won't mention it again) is just the latest.  I've done Melissa Cross and Brett Manning too and they're all great.  Anyway, I'll stick to the songwriting. I'm still curious how people feel about songwriting versus singing ability. I certainly don't think one needs to be a great singer to write good songs but maybe it helps.  What do you think?"

Re: Courses?

In my humble opinion......great songwriters write from their soul expereinces and emotions and singing has little to do with it. However a good singer can also help mold the song into that extra special something.
The older singers rarely wrote their own songs.....they stylised other peoples...the singer/songwriter came along with more sophisticated marketing and recording moguls wanting to bring a 'whole' concept on the market.
Some of the greatest songwriters were not good singers...but they knew how to express their songs.
Stevie Nicks is a 3 chord songwriter.....did she make it??
What ever is right for you follow, be original and put your heart in it and don't worry about anyone else.
