Topic: Vocal Harmonizer + Vocal Condenser Mic + Acoustic Guitar??

Hi!

I have a solo music project (just my voice and my acoustic guitar). Well, I use the VoiceWorks Plus too.
Now I'm looking for a good Condenser Mic (sennheiser e965??) for my vocals but I wonder if I would get problems if I'm using a condenser mic because they are so detailed if you know what I mean and if I'm playing my acoustic guitar with plectrum at the same time then the acoustic guitar could get on the vocal mic or not?!?
How do you guys solve this problem?
Until now I never used a condenser mic for vocals but a friend borrowed me one so I tried it and I LOVED THE SOUND so I don't wanna use a dynamic mic anymore!
I hope you can help me smile

Best regards
ben

Re: Vocal Harmonizer + Vocal Condenser Mic + Acoustic Guitar??

Hiya Ben,

The microphone you mentioned in brackets is not one I've personally used, but it does have a cardioid/hypercardioid pick-up pattern which is the best pick-up pattern to use when considering and minimising microphone spill. Here's a link which might help give you a clear picture on the subject...

It's worth mentioning, I've heard the Audix OM7 is also great for rejecting spill, but this is a dynamic mic.

If it's just yourself and acoustic guitar, I shouldn't imagine you'd have too much of an issue with spill, unless your guitar is super loud and your guitar amp or foldback is facing your mic directly.
