Topic: Joey says yes...Tom says no...hmmmm

I asked the question earlier regarding adding harmony to a modelled voice..here is Joey's reply

"Hiya,

It is entirely possible to add harmony to a model voice. Think of the voice model as an effect on the lead vocal, harmony is added seperately. You can also change gender characteristics etc of each harmony voice. Hope this helps!

Best wishes,

Joey"

After 6 hours of playing with this..to no avail..I read a post from Tom...

"It's not that technicians didn't think harmony and Louis would work together (hey, give us some credit!) it's that we reached the absolute limit on the amount of DSP horsepower on the VoiceWorksPlus platform. Harmony and Modeling each take huge amounts of processing power and they are not able to co-exist _on this platform_. If you really want to do both together, there are a couple of choices: VoicePro (top of the line but worth every penny), or purchase a separate VoiceLive, VoiceWorks (not plus) or Quintet and use that as your harmony machine while your VoiceWorksPlus is used for modeling. You'd have to put a mixer in there and do some fancy cabling but it could work.

If you're using it for recording, you could record dry at first, then record the modeling fed from the dry track and a final track with harmony."

Sorry for the long post guys but after dishing out nearly $1300 for a VW+ and harmony control...I would really like a straight answer...Tom and Joey....you guys fight it out on how it's done...lol

Thanks

Hiya Brianj40,

Well, Tom threw some punches and I threw some punches... but, Tom won (chuckle)!

Sorry about the confusion, we totally had our lines mixed on this one. I was answering with not being familiar enough with this specific product. Tom's post was right smile.

We do try to keep things straight up. We'll check into the manual to make sure that it's clear and I'll add some clarification to my original post so no one gets it confused next time. Thanks for crossing our T's and dotting our I's.

Best wishes,

Joey
