Tara Hoenings – Fallin’ Alicia Keys cover

I’m 17 years old and I’ve wanted to perform since I was a little girl. Music is my passion from singing, dancing to writing. Hope you like my covers!

    Hi Tara,

You’re off to a good start!  I notice ya’ sing a lot from your throat, which lends itself well to a sort of raspy sound…will tear up your voice over time though.  If you’re not already in your local church or school choir, it might be a fun venture for you to work directly with a vocal coach.  Either way you’ve got a good set of stock skills.  Keep chasing your dreams!!!

    Namaste,

    Brian

Nice version of the Alicia Hit. Be careful though you are sing Haa when you need to be singing Aaa example you are sing Hi Love Hue. Practice scales moving from Ha to Aa so that you can get a handle on this habit before it gets to ingrained. Hope this helps. :)

    Hi Tara,
I love that you are relaxed and into your song. That’s such a great place to be. Now you need to work on your “mix”. This means getting your chest voice to stay with you as you go into your head voice. This will give you the power and strength that you hear when you listen to A. Keys. This is the belting sound that is missing when you sing. It takes time to develop, but you are only 17 so now is a great time to work hard. Get to know your mix and work it hard from the bottom up. Good luck. Susie Q
